August Update

Dear George Kennedy Families,

We hope you are enjoying your summer and finding time for family.

Here at George Kennedy P.S.  we are busy getting ready to welcome back our current students and our new ones as well.

Renovations are well underway, and for those of you not aware, they are installing air conditioning on the second floor and brand new student washrooms. The air conditioning will likely be operational by spring when the weather warms up. We are really looking forward to these upgrades!

Normally at this time of year, we are able to meet with parents for transition meetings/visits, medical peril and other concerns. However, due to the renovations, access to the building has been limited to workers and office staff only. This means that teaching staff are not able to come in as early as they would like to get classrooms ready. Students may be helping to create their classroom environment as we go through start up.

These renovations impact our students with IEPs or other special needs. Due to the renovations we cannot hold our visits for students as hoped. SERTs will contact those families early in the year to connect around transition planning. If this changes, we will contact those families with invitations, but for now, we have to adhere to the safety regulations.

For those students with medical concerns, we will arrange appointments or electronic receipt of paperwork, so we would ask that you call our office to make arrangements. Please note, new medical forms have been sent out separately and will be sent again in a synervoice.

We apologize for the inconvenience but are happily awaiting the new washrooms and air conditioning here at George Kennedy P.S.!
